At Bluegrass Barkery we pride ourselves on carrying the most extensive line of healthy foods for your dogs (and cats). All of our foods are on Whole Dog Journal’s Recommended List for 2010. Acana Dog and Cat Foods: Acana foods are made by award winning Champion Petfoods at their own facility in Alberta, Canada. Using locally sourced, fresh ingredients, Acana is an exceptionally well engineered food consisting of three different varieties for dogs and cats: Wild Prairie (Chicken and Fish) Grasslands (Lamb, Duck, Fish) and Pacifica (Fish). Orijen Dog and Cat Foods: Like Acana, Orijen is also made by Champion Petfoods in Alberta, Canada and is the Glycemic Research Institutes Dog Food of the year for 2009-2010 and 2010 - 2011. As a low carbohydrate, high protein food, Orijen is great for maintaining a healthy weight or adding muscle mass to senior dogs. All varieties of Orijen are grain free and work well for those animals that suffer from allergies. Three protein varieties are available: Original Adult (Chicken, Turkey, Fish) 6 Fish (All Fresh Fish) and Regional Red (Boar, Venison, Lamb, Bison). Before Grain Dog and Cat Foods: Before Grain Dog and Cat foods are a grain free line from Merrick Petcare. Made at their own facility in Hereford, TX, Before Grain offers three varieties for dogs (Chicken, Salmon, and Buffalo) as well as three varieties for cats (Chicken, Salmon, Tuna). In addition to their dry foods, we also carry the full line of Before Grain canned food for dogs. Merrick Five Star Dog Food: Merrick Five Star Dog Food is a gourmet line of food from Merrick Petcare in Hereford, TX. Because it makes its own gravy, Five Star is an excellent choice for picky eaters. Along with six varieties of dry food, we also carry 18 different canned varieties such as Grammy’s Pot Pie, Cowboy Cookout, and Thanksgiving Day Dinner. Fromm Four Star Dog Food: The Fromm family has been making premium dog food at their own Wisconsin factory since 1949. With the introduction of their Four Star line of dog and cat foods, Fromm has combined high levels of fresh meat along with healthy fruits and vegetables for a taste dogs love. We find that this is an excellent feeding food for dogs with stomach sensitivities. With flavors such as Chicken, Duck, Pork, Whitefish, and Salmon, your dog will never get bored. Holistic Select Dog and Cat Foods: Formerly known as Eagle Pack Holistic Select, this food has a new look but the same great ingredients. Made in their own factory in Indiana, Holistic Select is one of the best foods for dogs with sensitive stomachs and features several protein choices such as Chicken, Lamb, Duck, and Fish. Holistic Select also comes in Large and Giant Breed and Small and Mini Breed specific formulas. Both dry and canned dog and cat foods are available at both of our locations. www.holisticselect.com
Natural Balance Dog Food: Tired of paying outrageous prices for Prescription foods? Then give Natural Balance’s grain free Duck, Fish, Venison, or Chicken diets a try. Formulated as single protein, single carbohydrate allergy formulas, Natural Balance is a fantastic alternative to expensive prescription diets from Science Diet and Purina. Featuring three formulas for dogs (Poultry, Red Meat, Fish) we find this food is a great option for pets who may not tolerate a higher protein diet but still need a grain free food.
